The harvesting period with a different sight
September 2011
At Fonroque we are always harvesting in a good mood...

Picking up of the grapes
September 6th to 24th 2011
After the heat from June 26th to 28th which burnt a big percentage of bunches on the south and west sides and gave a heterogeneous wine harvest, we had to pick up 75% of our plots in two different times.

Bottling
2 nd to 6 th of May 2011
The bottling for our vintage 2009 has just finished... after an intense week all our wine is actually in the bottles. It's a specific company coming over to make this fine task. The second part of our remodelling job will start soon... a part of our vats needs to be replaced.
Résumé of the weather forcast for the vintage 2010
May 2011
After a colder winter than the average thirty past ones, spring was unsettled and rather chilly ; that gave a late blossoming. The summer months were nice with a dry weather and temperatures with no excess. These conditions helped for the stopping of growing which allows the vine to be fully concentrated on the ripening of the fruits. This nice weather persisted till the harvesting period with a very nice "back" season. We picked up the grapes from September 27th to October 13th 2010. This slow grape maturation is favourable for the production of rich but elegant wines, full of aromas and with a good balance. Thanks to the biodynamic we could obtain wines with a lot of relief without loosing any freshness on the finish.
"Futures"
Monday 4th to Wednesday 6th of April 2011
Château Fonroque is receiving the Biodyvin Association for three days. Wine makers will make professionals discover their wine "en primeur" (="futures") in a entirely remodeled barrel cellar.

Château Fonroque : my favorite wine !
October 7 th 2010
Alain Moueix put Château Fonroque at a high level. His approach, his precision and above all his humility helps him to apprehend very cleverly the biodynamic aspect. With no doubt one of my favorite high quality wines. Respect!
