A convivial atmosphere prevails at this family-owned estate. The harmony of the place itself, a good-natured attitude and mutual respect have over the years created strong unity within the team at Fonroque.
So approval for biodynamic methods came naturally because Alain Moueix and Laurent Nougaro succeeded in explaining them well and captured the interest of the whole team, ensuring too that they were both involved in this approach from day to day at the estate.
Alain Moueix: was appointed as director of this estate in 2000 by the GFA Château Fonroque, a family-owned property belonging to Mrs J.A. Curat (his aunt) and Mr J.J. Moueix (his father).
A fully qualified agricultural engineer and oenologist, Alain spent a year and a half in New Zealand (1990/1991 harvests). Afterwards, he spent the next 11 years managing the estate Château Saint-André Corbin (1991 - 2002) in St Georges Saint-Emilion.
Director of Château Mazeyres in Pomerol since 1992, he coordinated its conversion. In 1998 he purchased Ingwe, a 40-hectare estate in Somerset West, South Africa. Alain Moueix planted more than 18 hectares of red-grape vines here and oriented the development of the property towards the production of blended wines that combine delicacy, richness and elegance.
Alain Moueix is also President of the Association of Saint-Emilion Great Growths, Vice-First Jurat of Saint-Emilion and Vice-President of the association Le Cercle Rive Droite.
Laurent Nougaro took over responsibility for production management at Fonroque after having largely participated in the transformations at Château Mazeyres. He played an essential role too in establishing and developing organic and biodynamic growing methods at Fonroque. He therefore seconds and assists Alain Moueix.
Catherine Moueix is Alain's wife; she accompanied him to New Zealand. Back in France, she stopped working to look after their three young children. She is now in charge of administration at Château Fonroque.
Caroline Blondeel is Fonroque's sales assistant; she also deals with visits to the estate, customer relations and secretarial duties.
Patricia Raymond coordinates the staff of seasonal teams and the harvest team.
Jérôme Marceron is an employee in the wine storehouse and deals with the wines' maturation.
Frédéric Purrey is the tractor driver and also ensures the maintenance of the estate's machinery and equipment.
